Increasing public acceptance for colon cancer screening through public relation campaigns and the establishment of dedicated networks

The colon itself and any illness related to the colon are still a great taboo topic across any population, this being a major reason for such few people to participate in colon cancer prevention programmes. The work of the Felix Burda Foundation proves that by using innovative public relation strategies and by involving as many stakeholders as possible in an interactive network of combatants active in the fight against colon cancer, the population can be educated and convinced of the necessity to participate in screening programmes.
